Geology. (Designating or pertaining to, the sandstones and conglomerates of) the Lower Triassic in Europe, esp. Germany.

Paper-making. A device which confines the pulp and so limits the size of a sheet of paper, consisting of either a frame on the mould used in hand paper-making, or (in full deckle strap) a continuous belt on either side of the wire on a machine.
Comb.: deckle edge the rough uncut edge of a sheet of paper, formed by the deckle; deckle-edged adjective having a deckle edge, as handmade paper; deckle strap: see above.
