Cauchy integral (formula), Cauchy's integral (formula) a formula expressing the value of a function at a point in terms of an integral round a closed curve enclosing the point. Cauchy sequence any sequence of numbers an which satisifes the condition that, for any positive number ŠĆ, a value of n can be chosen so that any two members of the sequence after an differ by a quantity less than ŠĆ. Cauchy's theorem spec. the theorem that the integral of an analytic function of a complex variable round a closed curve which encloses no singularities is zero.
