Elami noun. [i:l¨»:'mi:] obsolete exc. Hist. Also E la mi. LME.
[from E as a pitch letter + la, mi, designating tones in the solmization of Guido d'Arezzo (c 990-1050).]
Medieval Music. The note E in Guido d'Arezzo's 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th hexachords, where it was sung to the syllable la or mi. Cf. ALAMIRE, ARE noun1, BEFA, CEFAUT, ELA, etc.
