A pidgin of southern Africa, esp. among miners, made up of elements of Zulu, Xhosa, English, and Afrikaans. Formerly called Kitchen Kaffir.
? The word Kaffir being regarded as derogatory by Africans, the new name Fanagalo came to be adopted by mining authorities and other employers.
