catatonic schizophrenia
Schizophrenia characterised by marked disturbance, which may involve stupor, negativism, rigidity, excitement, or posturing; sometimes there is rapid alteration between the extremes of excitement and stupor. Associated features include stereotypic behaviour, mannerisms, and waxy flexibility; mutism is particularly common.
