Any of various ancient Aramaic translations, interpretations, or paraphrases of the Hebrew Scriptures, at first preserved by oral transmission, and committed to writing from about AD 100 onwards.
Tar'gumic adjective of or pertaining to the Targums L19.
Targumist noun (a) any of the translators and commentators who compiled the Targums; (b) an expert in the language and literature of the Targums: M17.
Targumize verb trans. (rare) make a Targum of or on L17.
