[Old & mod. French bagage, from baguer tie up, or from bagues (pl.) bundles (thought to be formed as BAG noun): see -AGE.]
Usu. collect. in senses 1 and 2 (formerly occas. with pl.).
Packages of belongings (now usu. suitcases etc.) that a traveller takes on a journey, luggage; spec. the portable equipment of an army (= Latin impedimenta). LME.
