braid verb1. Pa. pple & ppl adjective braided, BROWDEN. See also BREDE verb2.

I. verb trans. Make a sudden movement with (the hand, foot, etc.); brandish (a spear), draw (a sword etc.); jerk, fling, etc., with a sudden effort. OE-E17.
verb intrans. Change suddenly or abruptly. OE-LME.
verb intrans. Start, usu. out of sleep; burst into motion, speech, etc. arch. ME.

verb trans. Twist in and out, interweave; embroider; make (a cord, garment, etc.) by plaiting; arrange (the hair) in braids. OE.
