b. The neckband of a garment; a necklet. M16-M17.
A circular metal ring on a spindle or lining in a hole; Engineering a slit sleeve with an external taper which tightens when pushed into an internally tapered socket in a lathe mandrel etc. E16.
A metal flange or setting for a precious stone. E16.
Glass-making. The portion of glass left on the end of a blowing-iron after the removal of the finished article. See also CULLET. M17-L18.
