Volcanic rock in a crystalline state after fusion and slow cooling. E-M19.
A minute body, lacking definite crystalline form, found in glassy volcanic rocks etc.; an incipient crystal. Formerly also = MICROLITE. L19.

c. A region within a volume of cellulose or other polymer with a degree of structural ordering as in a crystal. Also called micelle. E20.
