[from Greek kuklos circle, or directly from CYCLE noun, CYCLIC: see -O-.]
1. Forming nouns and adjectives with the sense 'circular, cyclic, of circles or cycles'.
2. Chemistry. Prefixed to names of hydrocarbons to form names of cyclic hydrocarbons with rings of corresponding numbers of carbon atoms (as cyclobutane, cyclopentadiene, cyclopentane, etc.), or used more generally with the sense 'involving cyclic compounds'.
3. With the sense 'of bicycles or cycling'.
