A theory or system of thought which recognizes two independent principles (cf. MONISM, PLURALISM 2); spec. (a) the theory that mind and matter exist as separate entities; (b) the doctrine that there are two conflicting powers, good and evil, in the universe; (c) the doctrine that Christ had two natures, human and divine.
