Petrography. Designating, belonging to, or characteristic of a large category of igneous rocks whose chemical composition (broadly non-aluminous and ferromagnesian) can be expressed as a combination of certain normative minerals (notably pyroxene and olivine). Cf. SALIC adjective2.
