A kind of dressing used for white meats, fish, and vegetables, comprising broth, milk of almonds, spices, and (usu.) wine or ale; a sauce. Long obsolete exc. Scot. ME.
The fat and juices that exude from meat during and after cooking; a dressing for food made from these and other ingredients. L16.
b. Laughter readily obtained from an audience; good comic lines. Theatrical slang. M19.
