A dealer in a variety of household articles; esp. from the 16th cent., a dealer in hats and caps, a hatter. ME-E18.
A dealer in small articles related to dress, as thread, tape, ribbon, etc. Also (N. Amer.), a dealer in men's clothing and accessories. E17.
A drink-seller. slang. Now rare. E19.
