[Anglo-Norman = Old French hanapier (Anglo-Latin hanaperium), formed as HANAP: see -ER2.]
A case or basket for a hanap or hanaps; a repository for plate or treasure. Only in ME.
The department of the Chancery into which fees were paid for the sealing and enrolment of charters etc. LME.
b. A (wicker) case or basket for keeping documents. M18.
