Biochemistry. hyaluronic acid, a viscous glycosaminoglycan found in synovial fluid, vitreous humour, bacterial capsules, etc., and composed of glucosamine and glucuronic acid.
hya'luronate noun a salt of hyaluronic acid M20.
hyaluronidase noun an enzyme which depolymerizes hyaluronic acid, so reducing its viscosity and making tissue containing it more permeable M20.
