b. spec. in Law. The killing of an infant after its birth by one or both of the parents or with parental consent. L18.
A person who kills an infant, esp. his or her own child. L17.
? In the UK, under the Infanticide Act of 1938, the killing of a child under 12 months by his or her mother during postnatal depression etc. is treated as manslaughter.
