A. adjective. (Connecting points) of the same density or of constant density. Also (Biochemistry), pertaining to or designating ultracentrifugal separative techniques which rely on differences in density between the components of a mixture. L19.
b. noun. Meteorology. A line (imaginary or on a map or chart) or an imaginary surface connecting points at which the density (esp. of the atmosphere) is the same. Cf. ISOSTERE 1a. L19.
