I.
An outer garment for the upper part of the body, now usu. with sleeves. Also, a short coat without tails worn in shooting, riding, cycling, etc. LME.
bedjacket, bomber jacket, dinner jacket, Eton jacket, Nehru jacket, reefer jacket, smoking jacket, tuxedo jacket, waxed jacket, Zouave jacket, etc. dust a person's jacket: see DUST verb.

c. A jockey's loose-fitting blouse of silk or satin (orig. a jacket) in a racehorse-owner's distinctive colours. M19.
