Biochemistry. kynurenic acid, an organic acid that results from metabolism of tryptophan and is excreted in the urine of man and various animals; 4-hydroxyquinoline-2-carboxylic acid, C10H7NO3.
kynurenine noun an amino acid, H2NC6H4COCH2CH(NH2)COOH, which is a precursor of kynurenic acid in tryptophan metabolism M20.
