A Roman measure approximately equivalent to a small spoonful. Only in E17.
A narrow strap-shaped part of a plant; spec. (a) a membranous scale occurring on the inner side of the leaf-sheath at its junction with the blade in most grasses and sedges; also, a scale on the upper surface of a leaf in the selaginellas; (b) the blade formed by a ligulate floret. E19.
