I.
a. A place or building in which a person lodges or resides; a dwelling; Scot. a self-contained house. Formerly also, a bedroom; a (military) encampment. ME.
b. A prison, a hospital; a prison cell. LME-L17.
c. The lair of a buck or stag. L16-E17.
Dwelling, abode, esp. of a temporary nature. Chiefly in make lodging. take one's lodging, take up one's lodging. LME-E17.
Accommodation in hired rooms or a lodging-house (freq. in board and lodging); temporary or overnight accommodation. Formerly, permanent residential accommodation. LME.
