monty (iou)
monty noun1. colloq. L20.
[Origin uncertain.]
the full monty, the full amount expected, desired, or possible; spec. (with ref. to striptease) total nudity.
? Of various unsubstantiated theories of the origin of the phrase, perh. the most plausible is that monty is short for Montague Burton, British men's tailor, the full monty apparently meaning 'Sunday-best three-piece suit'. Use with ref. to nudity comes from the British film The Full Monty (1997), about a group of unemployed men who become strippers.
