[mod. Latin (see below), dim. of Latin pulsatus beaten about, i.e. 'the flower beaten by the wind'.]
Any of various spring-flowering plants constituting the genus Pulsatilla, closely allied to the anemones but with the perianth segments downy outside; esp. pasque-flower, P. vulgaris. Also, a medicinal extract or tincture of this plant.
