Christian Church. (Also Sanctus.) The hymn beginning Sanctus, sanctus, sanctus 'Holy, holy, holy', which forms the conclusion of the Eucharistic preface; a musical setting of this. LME.
black sanctus, a burlesque hymn; a discord of harsh sounds expressive of contempt or dislike, formerly from a husband to an unfaithful wife. L16-M19.
