a. Shake or roll (a heavy body) from side to side; rock (a cradle); shake, agitate (liquid or its containing vessel); jolt, jar. Also (rare), shake off (a load). LME.
b. Shake (a person) violently; jog esp. so as to attract attention. LME-M17.
c. fig. Upset, discompose; irritate, annoy. M17-E18.
