A simple bridle-bit without a curb and usu. with a single rein; fig. (arch.) a light curb, a mild restraint.
Comb.: snaffle-bit a snaffle; snaffle-bridle a bridle with a snaffle; snaffle-mouth: of a horse which can be managed with a snaffle alone.
