The action of STREAM verb; spec. (a) Mining the washing of detrital deposits in order to obtain any ore which they contain; (b) Education the practice of dividing pupils in a school into streams; (c) Biology a flowing motion of the cytoplasm in a cell; (d) Computing a high speed mode of tape transport in which the stopping tape overruns the gap between blocks and must be backed up for the next start; (e) Computing a method of relaying data, esp. video and audio material, over the Internet or other network as a steady continuous stream.
