A small cylindrical instrument, typically consisting of a tube fitted with a nozzle and a piston or bulb, for drawing in a quantity of liquid and ejecting it forcibly in a stream, used in medicine esp. for injecting drugs, vaccines, etc., through a needle and cleansing wounds or body cavities. Now also, a similar instrument used for various purposes, as compressing air, squirting water over plants, etc. LME.
A natural structure or organ resembling a syringe, as in certain bugs. E19.
