[Frangipani, 16th-cent. Italian marquis, inventor of a perfume for scenting gloves.]
A perfume resembling jasmine. Now spec. the scent of the blossom of the frangipani plant, or an imitation of it. M19.
A fragrant ornamental shrub or tree of the neotropical genus Plumeria, of the dogbane family, esp. red jasmine, P. rubra. L19.
