Pharmacology. A non-barbiturate sedative and hypnotic, C13H10N2O4, which was found to be teratogenic when taken early in pregnancy, sometimes causing malformation or absence of limbs in the foetus.
Comb.: thalidomide baby, thalidomide child, etc.: with a congenital abnormality due to the effects of thalidomide.
