A songbird common in much of Europe, Turdus philomelos, which has a buff spotted breast and a loud repetitive song (also more fully song thrush). Also = mistle thrush s.v. MISTLE 2. OE.
b. Any of various Other birds of the genus Turdus or related genera; gen. any bird of the family Turdidae. Freq. with specifying word. E18.

1. A tool chiefly for digging up weeds, and arranging the earth about plants in fields and gardens. It is made of a flat blade of iron or steel having an eye or tang by which it is attached to a wooden handle at an acute angle.

2. <zoology> The horned or piked dogfish. See Dogfish. Dutch hoe, one having the blade set for use in the manner of a spade. Horse hoe, a kind of cultivator.
