Science. The amount of variation in a numerical result that is consistent with observation. M19.
Phrases: uncertainty principle Physics the principle that certain pairs of observables (e.g. the momentum and position of a particle) cannot both be precisely determined at the same time, and that the product of the uncertainties of these quantities cannot be less than h4 (h = Planck's constant); also Heisenberg uncertainty principle, Heisenberg's uncertainty principle.
