Fur obtained from a variety of red squirrel with grey back and white belly, much used in the 13th and 14th cents. as a trimming or lining for garments. Now arch. or Hist. ME.

Heraldry. One of the two chief furs, consisting of small angular bell- and cup-shaped figures, usu. of the two tinctures azure and argent, placed alternately so as to fill the space concerned. Cf. ERMINE noun 3, VAIRY 1. M16.

Adams, Samuel (oh)



(1722-1803) a US politician and writer who protested against British taxes and law when the UK was still in control of the American colonies.. He was the main organizer of the Boston Tea Party.
