A. noun.
Any of various cereal grasses of the genus Triticum, with spikelets in dense distichous spikes; esp. (more fully bread wheat) Triticum aestivum, widely grown in temperate climates, the source of the best bread flours, and T. durum (more fully durum wheat), the flour from which is used to make pasta. OE.
hard wheat, red wheat, rivet-wheat, soft wheat, white wheat, etc.
The grain of this, ground to make flour etc. OE.
