The fact of knowing or being aware of something; knowledge, cognizance. Freq. in at one's witting, by one's witting, of one's witting, to one's witting, to or with one's knowledge; as (far as) one knows. ME.
sing. & (usu.) in pl. Knowledge obtained or (esp.) communicated; information, intelligence, news; notice, warning. Chiefly in get witting(s), have witting(s). LME.
