Nipkow disk
<microscopy> An opaque circular disk perforated with small holes arranged at equal angular separations and in an Archimedes spiral. The holes trace a raster scanning pattern when the disk is spun around its centre. The Nipkow disk was used in early experiments on television and more recently in Petrans confocal microscope.
