nill verb. Long arch. Pa. t. nilled, nould.
[Old English nyle (pres. t.) from ne not + WILL verb1. Cf. Old Frisian nil, nel.]
verb intrans. Be unwilling, not want. Formerly also as aux. denoting simple futurity: will not. Foll. by do, to do. Now chiefly contrasting with will. OE.
nill he, will he etc., will he, nill he etc.: see WILL verb1. willing or nilling, willing nilling: see WILLING adverb.
