<enzyme> An enzyme that catalyses the formation of anthranilate (o-aminobenzoate) and pyruvic acid from chorismate and glutamine. Anthranilate is the biosynthetic precurser of tryptophan and numerous secondary metabolites, including inducible plant defense compounds.
