In particular, the use by industry of recombinant DNA, cell fusion, and new bioprocessing techniques.

Biotechnology products include antibiotics, insulin, interferon, recombinant DNA, and techniques such as waste recycling. Much older forms of biotechnology include breadmaking, cheese making and brewing wine and beer.
