<chemical> A nitrofuran derivative with antiprotozoal and antibacterial activity. It has been used in giardiasis and in bacterial intestinal infections. Furazolidone acts by gradual inhibition of monoamine oxidase.

Pharmacological action: anti-infective agents, local, anti-infective agents, urinary, antitrichomonal agents, monoamine oxidase inhibitors.
