A plant (Hyssopus officinalis). The leaves have an aromatic smell, and a warm, pungent taste.

The hyssop of Scripture is supposed to be a species of caper (Capparis spinosa), but probably the name was used for several different plants.

Tasty Butters (recipes)






Ingredients:



1/3cup butter or margarine, melted

1tablespoon chopped onion

2to 3 teaspoons hot pepper sauce

1teaspoon dried thyme leaves

1/4teaspoon ground allspice

1/3cup butter or margarine, melted

1tablespoon finely chopped green onion tops

1tablespoon lemon juice

1teaspoon grated lemon peel

1/4teaspoon black pepper

1/3cup butter or margarine, melted

1tablespoon chopped onion

1tablespoon Dijon mustard

1teaspoon chili powder









Preparation:





1.For each butter sauce, combine ingredients in small bowl.
