myeloblastic leukaemia

A form of granulocytic leukaemia in which there are large numbers of myeloblasts in various tissues (and organs) and in the circulating blood; the immature forms may amount to 30 to 60% (or even a greater proportion) of the increased total number of white blood cells. Used synonymously for acute granulocytic leukaemia.

Synonym: leukaemic myelosis.
