A rapidly-growing tumour-like proliferation of fibroblasts, not thought to be neoplastic, with mild inflammatory exudation occurring in fascia; the fibrosis may infiltrate surrounding tissue but does not progress indefinitely or metastasize.

Synonym: pseudosarcomatous fasciitis.
