A form of parkinson disease due to degeneration of the corpus striatum or substantia nigra, frequently occurring as a sequel of lethargic encephalitis. The early age of onset, the rapid progression of symptoms and signs of stabilization, and the presence of a variety of other neurological disorders (sociopathic behaviour, tics, spasms, oculogyric crises and other restricted motor disorders, breathing arrhythmias, hyperphagia, and bizarre movements, postures, and gaits) distinguish this disease from the one described by parkinson.
