Origin: OE. Skie a cloud, Icel. Sk; akin to Sw. & Dan. Sky; cf. AS. Sca, scwa, shadow, Icel. Skuggi; probably from the same root as E. Scum. See Scum, and cf. Hide skin, Obscure.
