an area of northern Paris on a hill, which is famous for the large white church of Sacre Coeur and for its bars, restaurants, and nightclubs, including the Moulin Rouge, where the 19th century artist Toulouse-Lautrec did paintings of the dancers and singers. Many artists used to live and work there.
