Kabale (tourism)

Kabale is a district of Uganda.

Often referred to as the ‘smaller version of Switzerland’, Kabale, in its entirety, is any visitor’s dream. On any day, Kabale will strike you with its terraced fields in every shade of green, rolling into distant undulating hills, dissolving into the blues and meeting the misty valleys at the bottom! That is Kabale and so much more.

Tucked away in the southwest of the Republic of Uganda, Kabale borders with the districts of Kisoro in the west, Rukungiri and Kanungu in the north, Ntungamo in the east, and the Republic of Rwanda in the south. Ndorwa, Rubanda and Rukiga comprise the district’s three rural counties, with Kabale Municipality as its only urban entity. Kabale may not be the largest district in Uganda but there is so much hidden here: forests Home to the mountain gorilla, volcanic lakes, mineral reserves of wolfram, iron ore and lava ash, conic hills, and- by all accounts- very hardworking folks.
