Fiordland National Park (sh) and boudinage (sh)

Fiordland National Park (sh)

Park, southern South Island, New Zealand.

Established in 1952, it is one of the largest national parks in the world, with an area of 4,834 sq mi (12,519 sq km). It is renowned for the grandeur of its fjords, mountains, forests, waterfalls, and lakes. The park is bordered by mountains on the east and by the Tasman Sea on all Other sides. It is the site of Sutherland Falls, one of the highest waterfalls in the world, which drops 1,904 ft (580 m) in three cascades.

boudinage (sh)

Cylinder-like structures making up a layer of deformed rock.

They commonly lie adjacent to each Other and are joined by short necks, giving the appearance of a string of sausages (boudin is French for "sausage"). The necks may be filled with recrystallized minerals such as quartz, feldspar, or calcite. Boudinage occurs in a variety of rock types and is one of the more common structures found in folded rocks.
